NHRA: Randy Daniels leads Pro Stock qualifying at Texas

ENNIS, Texas - Randy Daniels led Pro Stock Truck qualifying Thursday at the 14th annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec.

The $1.7 million race is the 21st of 22 events in the $40 million NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series. Daniels, from Grantsboro, N.C., covered the Texas Motorplex quarter-mile with a track record elapsed time of 7.575 seconds at 178.14 mph in a Chevy S-10. Brad Jeter qualified second, running 7.584 at a track record speed of 178.39.

Qualifying for all pro categories begins Friday, with sessions at 1:15 and 5:30 p.m.
