SCHRADER'S THOUGHTS HEADING INTO THE POP SECRET MICROWAVE POPCORN 400:
* "Rockingham has not been one of the Skoal Racing team's better tracks,," said Ken Schrader, driver of the Skoal Racing Monte Carlo. "We struggled there in both '97 and '98, but we have consistently improved our finishes. We finished 14th last fall and 11th in the spring. We're shooting for a better finish this weekend."
CREW CHIEF SHOP TALK:
* "We're bringing the same car we ran here in the spring," said Sam Johns, crew chief of the Skoal Racing Monte Carlo. "Rockingham has been a track where the Skoal Racing team has tried to improve their performance. Our intermediate tracks were a weakness for us, but we've made a concentrated effort to work on those tracks.
"The Skoal Racing team's pit crew has been practicing for the annual Union 76/Rockingham World Pit Crew Competition. This is one area where the Skoal Racing team has improved a lot. The pit stops have consistently gotten better throughout the season and they should have a real good shot at the title. The key to the competition is to not have any penalties assessed."
SKOAL RACING TEAM NEWS:
* Schrader will pull double duty this weekend at North Carolina Speedway. He will compete in Saturday's Busch Series event in the No. 15 Oakwood Homes Monte Carlo in addition to his duties in the Skoal Racing Monte Carlo.
