On Rockingham: Todd Bodine, driver of the Phillips 66 Chevrolet, has one
win at North Carolina Speedway in NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National
Division competition. Bodine won the fall event in 1995 after making a
three-wide pass on the last lap of the event. Bodine and the Phillips 66
team will attempt to improve upon the ninth-place finish scored earlier
this
year during the spring event at "The Rock." Crew chief Donnie Richeson
said
the weather will be key in determining the best race set-up for this
weekend's Kmart 200.
"There isn't a whole lot of difference between the spring and fall event at Rockingham," Richeson explained. "The basics on the race car are the same. Success at Rockingham tends to depend a lot on the weather. Fall tends to come a little late in that part of the country so we could have a hot, sunny day or a cool, gray day. If it's a sunny day, then tire conservation is very key. It's a real driver's track and the type of track where Todd tends to do real well."
Equipment: The car Bodine will compete with in Rockingham this weekend is "Twister's Sister." "Twister's Sister" will make its fourth appearance of the 1999 season and second in a row. "Twister's Sister" is the car Bodine finished ninth with at Charlotte two weeks ago. Earlier performances include a 10th-place at Darlington in September, and 13th at Michigan.
Two Weeks Ago In Charlotte: Making his 200th career Busch Series start, Bodine qualified the No. 66 in 24th place. From that starting spot Bodine worked his way through the field to finish ninth. Bodine's ninth-place finish in the All Pro Bumper To Bumper 300 improved his career statistics to 107 top-10 finishes.
Bodine Favorite: Bodine's favorite city in the United States is San Francisco.
