Race officials, acting on the most current weather projections, postponed the PARTS Pro Truck Series Race scheduled this weekend (Oct. 15-16) at St. Augustine Speedway.
"Earlier projections for the path of Hurricane Irene indicated there was a possibility the weather system would pass without having a major impact on the area," said Louis Smith, general manager for St. Augustine Speedway."
"After checking on the latest forecasts during the night and early morning, it became apparent that the most recent predictions would bring a great deal of rain to the area throughout the day on Friday and all day on Saturday."
Both Smith and Larry Evans, president of PARTS were dissapointed that the race had to be postponed for the second time due to hurricane activity in Floirda.
"We wanted to get this race in if there was any way possible," Evans said. "It is the last race of the season and there is a lot of suspense in the points chase."
Information about a make-up date for the St. Augustine Speedway race will be made available in the near future.
