No. 52 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet Texas Notes & Quotes


Hansen At Texas: Scott Hansen, driver of the No. 52 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet, has one start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Texas Motor Speedway, the Pronto Auto Parts 400 in June of this year.

"I really enjoyed competing at Texas earlier this year," said Hansen. "Prior to this year, most of my experience was in the ASA series and the fastest speeds we ran were around 120 mph. At Texas, the speeds we race are around 170 mph and it is very exciting. I'm looking forward to returning there with more experience running those high speeds. Our motor program has really improved since the last event, so I'm ready to race!"

Equipment: The Oakwood Homes Racing team is taking the same truck to Texas that posted a third-place finish at Nazareth and a 10th place finish at Bristol.

"The Oakwood Homes Racing team is bringing our best truck in the stable to Texas," said crew chief Wally Brown. "The truck has been adapted from a short track truck to a speedway truck by putting a new nose and new fenders on it. The truck handles very well, but we wanted to make it better aerodynamically."

Better The Second Time Around: Crew chief Wally Brown is excited to return to a track where they have previous experience as a team.

"Both Scott and I are rookies in the truck series this year," said Brown. "Texas will be the first opportunity that he and I will have a chance to build on what we have learned together. We have a better motor program since that event and I think that is the biggest factor that will make the most difference."

Dancing Partners: Even though Texas Motor Speedway is considered an intermediate track on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, it has a lot of characteristics of superspeedway racing. The most notable characteristic is drafting among the competitors.

"My goal as a crew chief this weekend is to make the truck comfortable in the draft for Scott," said Brown. "You can make the truck turn the fastest lap times out on the track by itself, but it won't mean anything during the race. Drafting is such a huge factor at Texas and the driver that can utilize the draft the best will wind up in victory lane."
