The Jani-King Prolong race team enters the event in Bakersfield
knowing
that their owner/driver Eric Norris has two races the weekend of October
15th. Norris will be a racing machine as he is scheduled to run the
Bluebonnet 300 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event in Texas on Friday
night,
and then the NASCAR Winston West Series event in California on Sunday.
"It's going to be a long weekend," said Norris. But I'm sure it's going to be a good one. We have a great team with Jani-King and Prolong for Sunday's race so I'm not worried about running both these events. And I'd be lying if I didn't say I was very excited about driving a truck at my home track, Texas." Norris went on to say, "The thing I have to be aware of is that this is a great opportunity for me and everyone involved. So there will be a lot of pressure."
Norris enters the NASCAR Winston West race having finished sixth in a photo finish at Las Vegas. It was his first top 10 finish since Irwindale Speedway back in early summer. Norris has four top 10's on the season.
"Boy we needed that finish in Vegas," said Norris. "We've had good cars all year but for what ever reason everything in the world keeps happening to us. The thing is now we have to keep on doing what we've been doing and as we saw we can run with these guys week in and week out."
Norris currently sits 12th in the NASCAR Winston West Series point standings, 35 points out of tenth and only 100 points out of fifth. So as you can see the opportunity to move up by season's end is there. It will just take a few more finishes like Las Vegas Motor Speedway produced.
Last year Norris finished eighth at Mesa Marin Speedway.
