The Pro Stock Truck qualifying continued after rain delay which pushed
everything back almost three hours. The track is on the edge of a storm
system which is moving northeast and is coming from the Gulf of Mexico.
NHRA gave the Pro Stock Truck class their third qualifying session before locking the field. The weather conditions for the session were the worst that the class has seen all weekend, the humidity was at 79%. The engines have a very hard time creating the horsepower that they need with thick air.
Mike lined up in the right lane. The yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order machine launched off of the starting line and made a move to the left, toward the center stripe. Mike drove the JEG'S S-10 back to the center of the groove and blasted down the track. Mike did not improve his qualifying time, but was the fifth quickest of the session.
Mike noted, "Making a run like we did speaks highly of our team, the track was green and we made the best of it." Mike will face off against Jeff Lukovich in round one.
John pulled into the left lane for the last qualifying session. Coughlin was on the outside looking in going into the final session.
The #31 JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10 darted off of the starting line and took off down the track. The truck looked great leaving the line and looked even better going down track. John did not improve his qualifying time and missed the field.
John was the sixth quickest of the session. Coughlin noted, "We made a good run for the session. The air was a lot worse then what we had all weekend. Although we did not get into the field, the team made a great run during the last session. It really shows how strong that our team works together."
NHRA is planning on running the first round of Pro Stock Truck after the second qualifying session of the remaining professional classes tonight under the lights.
