SCCA: Kitchak and Kleinubing take poles at Laguna Seca Finale

MONTEREY, CALIF.-- Peter Kitchak and Pierre
Kleinubing were the
respective class fastest qualifiers for the Speedvision World Challenge GT
and
Touring Car Championships season finale at the Laguna Seca Raceway, in
Monterey,
Calif.
Kitchak, of Excelsior, Minn., placed his Porsche 911 on the pole for the GT race with a time of 1:37.154, (82.928 mph). Kitchak leads the point standings by two points over Bobby Archer, of Ft. Worth, Texas, 225 to 223.
"This pole was key for us as we now have an extra point advantage over Bobby Archer heading into the race tomorrow," said Kitchak. "Im looking to get off to a great start and have the guys behind me tangle for position."
In Touring Car Championship, Kleinubing, of Erexim, Brazil, captured his eighth pole of the year after posting a top time of 1:37.600, (82.549 mph). Kleinubing trails season points leader Michael Galati, of North Olmstead, Ohio, by 12 points, 243 to 229.
"As usual the car was great and the crew did a great job," said Kleinubing. "I ve had eight poles this season, and not won from the pole yet, so lets hope the luck turns around for the race."
