Hansen At Louisville: Scott Hansen, driver of the No. 52 Oakwood Homes
Chevrolet, will make his first career start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series at Louisville Motor Speedway this weekend. Hansen has competed
once
on the .438-mile track in the ASA series in 1994. In that event, he
started
12th and finished seventh.
"Louisville is not your ordinary race track," Hansen said. "The track is very challenging from a driver's perspective. It is like a small Nazareth because there are five different corners, which are very sharp, and the track goes uphill and downhill in places. Since the Oakwood Homes Racing team did well at Nazareth, I'm hoping we can produce similar results at Louisville."
Equipment: The Oakwood Homes Racing team is taking the same truck to Louisville that competed earlier this year at IRP and posted a third-place finish at Nazareth.
1998 Statistics: The Oakwood Homes Racing team started 12th and finished 10th in last year's race at Louisville Motor Speedway.
Looking Back At Las Vegas, Heading Into Louisville
Ready To Bat At Louisville: Hansen suffered minor injuries after an incident during the Orleans 250 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on September 24th. He pulled muscles in his neck and legs, but feels those injuries will not affect his performance at Louisville.
"I still am very sore from Las Vegas, but I do not think the injuries will affect me at Louisville," Hansen said. "I competed in the All-American 400 last weekend in Nashville and I finished sixth. I should have finished better, but I was not able work on the car as much as I wanted to prior to the race because I was trying to heal my pulled muscles. Even though I was still sore at the start of the race, I felt really comfortable in the car. When that green flag drops, I guess the adrenaline takes over because nothing else seems to matter other than passing whoever is front of you."
