For Brian Simo, it's one race to go for his first BF Goodrich Tires
Trans-Am championship.
Simo led start-to-finish from the pole last Sunday at Pike's Peak in the Valvoline Ford Mustang. With one Trans-Am event remaining -- Oct. 17 at Sebring -- Simo is seven points behind Paul Gentilozzi, 305-298. Simo has a series-high six wins and eight poles in 12 races.
"It's certainly keeping us on the edge of our seats," admitted Simo, the Trans-Am runner-up each of the last two seasons. "I can only reference it to last year and it's gone a lot better for us. Winning a championship is about doing well in every race. On one hand I'm happy about the team and the progress we've made. On the other, I'm a little nervous, because there's been some calls that have cost me some points both from an officiating standpoint and judgment calls on my part where maybe I should have been more tentative and opted for the points instead of the victory."
