COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Larry Evans, President of PARTS, announced today the introduction of the Professional Association of Racing Teams. Previously, the PARTS acronym has represented the highly successful Professional Association of Racing Trucks and the Pro Truck Series.

When we originally established the PARTS organization, we had thoughts of future expansion for the organization," Evans said. "With the recent acquisition of the ASTRO (American Short Track Racing Organization) Super Late Model Series, it was time to make the change.

The organization is the sanctioning body for the new PARTS Super Series. Under the PARTS banner, two divisions of competition will be staged. The PARTS Pro Truck Series will continue to operate under the same name.

The ASTRO Super Late Model Series will be renamed the PARTS Super Pro Late Model Series.

"PARTS will bring together the top drivers in two very competitive divisions," Evans said. "When PARTS goes to a track, we bring a complete show that will have the fans on the edge of their seats with the best short track racing has to offer."

Plans for the 2000 season include both series competing together at the same venues throughout the Southeast. A tentative 15-race schedule has been announced with visits to such tracks as USA International Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, Concord Motorsport Park, Lonesome Pine Speedway, St. Augustine Speedway and Peach State Speedway.

Two T.B.A. dates are also included in the tentative schedule with Myrtle Beach Speedway, Lanier National Speedway and Kingsport Speedway being considered.
