INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Special Saturday-evening races for
the Super
Pro category and a combined Pro and Street category will be part of the
1999
Sunoco Race Fuels Fall Classic on the world-famous quarter-mile drag strip
at Indianapolis Raceway Park October 15-17.
Super Pro will pay $2,000 of a total $3,960 purse to the winner if a minimum of 55 cars enter, with Pro/Street paying $1,000 (of $2,300) to the winner based on a minimum of 58 cars. If the total number of entries is less than the minimum, 100% of the entry fees will make up the purse.
The Sunoco Race Fuels Fall Classic features racing in six National Hot Rod Association sportsman categories, plus the eighth-mile Jeg's Mail Order Super Quick Series, in addition to the special IRP events.
NHRA competitors in any category are welcome to also enter Super Pro, which will feature cars running between 7.50 seconds and 11.99 in the quarter-mile and delay boxes will be permitted, or Pro/Street, for cars running 10.00 seconds or slower and no delay boxes allowed.
The event represents the final 1999 opportunity in the North Central Division for competitors to establish new NHRA national records.
With IRP's Team Kendall Challenge having come to a close in early September, the Sunoco Race Fuels Fall Classic is also the final opportunity for area Super Pro, Pro, and Street competitors to race at the facility.
Entry fee for NHRA racers in Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street is $75 for car and driver. For the Jeg's Mail Order Super Quick Series, the entry fee is $60. Entry fee for Super Pro is $75, with a $40 entry fee set for the Pro/Street category.
Super Quick racers who fail to make the 32-car qualified field will be welcome to run the quarter-mile Super Pro race on Saturday evening with payment of an additional $15.
