COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Bob Evans Restaurants is giving
Annamarie Flanagan of Pittsburgh the chance to become a millionaire.
Flanagan was named today as the grand-prize winner of the Bob Evans
Restaurants' Wildfire Barbecue Sweepstakes. As the sweepstakes winner, Flanagan has already won a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and an all-expenses-paid trip for four to the Oct. 9 NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division race at Lowe's Motor Speedway at Charlotte, N.C. Flanagan will also win $1 million at that race if Randy LaJoie, driver of the No. 1 Bob Evans Restaurants Racing Chevrolet, is the winner.
Flanagan will serve as an honorary Bob Evans Restaurants Racing team crew member during the race and will receive an official Bob Evans Restaurants Racing team jacket, crew uniform shirt, polo shirt, hat and travel bag.
"I had been meaning to enter the sweepstakes for a while," Flanagan said. "The last time I was there, my parents reminded me to enter because you never know if yours will be the one -- and it was. I guess this proves that you're never too old to take your parents' advice!
"I've watched NASCAR races on television and can't think of a better place to see my first race than from the pits. I never had a favorite driver, but Randy LaJoie is certainly up there now!"
"Randy LaJoie won the season-opening NAPA Auto Parts 300 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and is a two-time Busch Series champion, so we are rooting for a repeat performance of those races," said Stewart Owens, president and COO of Bob Evans Restaurants. "When our Bob Evans driver and car win a race, it's exciting -- but nothing could compare to the excitement of one of our customers walking away from that race with $1 million."
More than one million participants entered the Wildfire Barbecue Sweepstakes at Bob Evans Restaurants across the country. Named for the restaurant's award-winning Wildfire barbecue sauce, the sweepstakes was held from July 1 to Sept. 15. The sauce, developed by the two-time champion Wildfire barbecue team, is available on seasonal menu items and sold exclusively at Bob Evans Restaurants for a limited time.
Bob Evans Farms Inc. currently owns and operates more than 420 full-service, family restaurants in 20 states, principally in the Midwestern, mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States, as well as Texas.
The company also is a leading producer of pork sausage under the Bob Evans and Owens brand names.
