SCCA: Trans-Am and World Challenge to wrap-up 2000 season in Aruba

Trans-Am Series and
Speedvision World Challenge Championships will conclude their respective
2000
seasons on the Caribbean island of Aruba, a weekend tentatively slated for
mid-November.The 00 Trans-Am and World Challenge season finales will be conducted at the Aruba Motorsports Complex at Seroe Colorado, the first world-class permanent motorsports facility in Latin America and the Caribbean region. The 2.7-mile, 14-turn Aruba Motorsports Complex, operated by Carlo Mansur, Colorado Hills N.V., Managing Director, is being constructed to FIA Formula One specifications, and when complete will feature 35 garages, 45 pit stalls and two straight-aways capable of sustaining race speeds in excess of 200 mph (a bit less for cars competing in the Trans-Am Series).

Van Niman, SCCA Pro Racing President and CEO. "That this facility is in Aruba will make the 2000 finale the most exciting season-ending races in Trans-Am and World Challenge history."
The Aruba Motorsports Complex is located on the eastern tip of the island of Aruba (in the southern region of the Caribbean, off the South American coast, near Venezuela). The Trans-Am and World Challenge weekend was developed through an agreement between Motorsports Americas, Inc., President Ralph Sanchez and SCCA Pro Racing. The Aruba weekend will be the fifth venue that has teamed Sanchez and SCCA Pro Racing, dating to 1986.

"This world class facility will feature some of the worlds greatest racing series, and were very pleased to have SCCA Pro Racings premiere series compete as part of our inaugural season of racing."
Television coverage of the 00 Trans-Am and World Challenge Aruba weekend will be on the Speedvision Network in North America, local domestic coverage in Aruba and a Latin America package will also be in place.
"The Trans-Am Series and World Challenge Championships have a growing Latin American fan base, and were delighted to be able to expand the international appeal with our series first races outside North America," added Van Niman.
