IRL: Scott Goodyear/Panther Racing Notes, Las Vegas

The Pennzoil Panther Pack and driver Scott Goodyear opened up the weekend with the 5th fastest overall time of the 1st practice session at 26.242 seconds, 205.777miles per hour. "We were pleased with our 1st run of the weekend. The Pack worked really hard during our test here last month and that work is paying off today," said Goodyear. The Pack ran 42 laps total. Sam Schmidt posted the quick time of the session at 25.856 seconds, 208.849 miles per hour.

*Crew Chief Kevin Blanch was named to the All Star Pit Crew last night at the CAM award dinner. The dinner honors the mechanics who compete in the Pep Boys Indy Racing League. Blanch was voted top crew chief by his peers.

* Driver Scott Goodyear participated in last nights Speedway Children's Charity Celebrity Go-cart Race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Goodyear was joined by his brother, Mike Goodyear, who races carts professionally in Canada. The team originally placed 3rd in the race but were disqualified due to a problem with the cart at the completion of the race.

*Crew Chief Kevin Blanch and Shania Twain's bass player, Andy Cichon, dominated the pit stop competition at the Orleans Hotel last night. The two competed against Treadway and Galles racing in a tire change competition. Their quick time of 7.4 seconds beat the competition by more than 4.5 seconds.
