NASCAR BGN: Kevin Grubb Racing Notes, Darlington

3 September 1999

IS HE CRAZY?: Many drivers loathe racing at Darlington Raceway, but not Mechanicsville, Virginia resident Kevin Grubb.

"There is nothing I like more than racing on tracks that demand you keep on your toes every inch of every lap - tracks like Darlington," said Grubb. " It's a tough, old race track. That's not to say outdated. Some think it's a crazy place to race. It's narrow, rough and not very suited for the speeds we are running, but we need tracks like this.

"At Darlington, the driver is so important. It gives us a chance to show our ability," continued Grubb. "Of course you need a strong car, but a strong car with a timid driver at Darlington won't get the job done." In three NASCAR Busch Series starts at Darlington Raceway, Grubb's average starting position is 14th.

COME SEE KEVIN GRUBB, TWICE!: On September 8, Kevin Grubb will meet fans and sign autographs from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. at the Allied Signal plant in Chesterfield, Virginia and on September 11, he will be signing autographs and meeting fans at East Cost convenience store on 801 England St. in Ashland, Virginia from 9:45 am-12:00 p.m. Attendees of the appearance in Ashland will also receive a free copy of Racing Milestones magazine.
