NASCAR Trucks: Scott Hansen readies for Topeka truck race
25 August 1999
Hansen At Topkea: Scott Hansen, driver of the No. 52 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet, has two starts at Heartland Park Topeka in the ASA Series. In 1993, Hansen started third and went on to win the event. Two years later in 1995, Hansen started third and finished sixth."The win at Topeka was one of the most memorable wins of my career," Hansen said. "I was victorious against some fierce competitors such as Ken Schrader, Mark Martin, Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip and Johnny Benson. It feels great when you can beat competitors that are as accomplished as they are."
Although Hansen has never competed at Topeka in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck series event, he did log some laps on the 2.1-mile road course last year. Hansen was asked to qualify Ken Schraders Winston West car because Schrader was unable to make it to the track in time for qualifying. Hansen qualified the car fourth.
Schrader Racing At Topeka: Ken Schrader Racing has participated in at least one event every year at Heartland Park Topeka since the track opened in 1991. The 1999 NASCAR Craftsman Truck series event will mark the ninth consecutive year that Ken Schrader Racing has competed at Topeka.
