NASCAR WCUP: Pepsi 400 Post Race Notes, Rusty Wallace
23 August 1999
RUSTY WALLACE --2-- Miller Lite Taurus (Finished 16th)-- "The new tire was a pain in trying to figure it out, I'll tell you that. It was so temperamental. We were loose and fell back at the start. We made some adjustments that made it much better under that first caution, but when we came up a pound on the next stop under green, it made the thing get tight. We went back the other direction on the next stop and it made it pretty good again. We got bogged down by another car there on pit row under one of the yellows. That slowed us down getting into the pits and cost us a bunch of spots at the time. We avoided disaster there by missing that crash with the 10 and 36, but we bent in the front air dam and had to come back in and fix it (from hitting the apron and getting into the grass). On that final green flag run, the guys who got tires during that last caution really had the upper hand on us and it was all I could do to hang on to what I could get."Editors Note: For hundreds of hot racing photos and racing
