NASCAR BGN: Grubb hopes third time is a charm at Michigan

19 August 1999

For the third time this season, Kevin Grubb will pilot the No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet Monte Carlo named, Speedy and the Mechanicsville, Virginia resident is hoping this run will bring him his best showing yet.

Grubb, who has never competed at the two-mile Michigan Speedway, drove Speedy at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega SuperSpeedway earlier in the season scoring an eighth and 30th place finish respectively.

"Both times I've run this car it's been awesome," said Grubb. "We had some body damage on it at Daytona and still finished eighth and it was a rocket ship at Talladega before I was caught up in one of those legendary restrictor plate crashes. Speedy was built during the off-season and was completely rebuilt following Talladega. This makes the third race for it. What's that old saying, third times a charm? We will just have to wait and see."

HAPPY FIFTH BIRTHDAY TIMBER WOLF!:

The No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet Monte Carlo, piloted by Kevin Grubb in the NASCAR Busch Series, is donning a special birthday scheme in honor of the fifth birthday of Timber Wolf moist snuff in the NAPA 200 at Michigan Speedway. The unique design made its debut in the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park on August 6.

In August 1994, Timber Wolf was launched in two flavors, long cut wintergreen and fine cut natural. It added cool wintergreen and fine cut wintergreen in 1996 and long cut straight last year.

The Timber Wolf birthday car was designed by Concord, North Carolina based motorsports artist Sam Bass, who also designed the blue and green No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet.

The Timber Wolf car will also carry the special birthday message in the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 27 and Autolite Platinum 250 at Richmond International Raceway on September 10.

ASSOCIATE SPONSOR AT MICHIGAN: Buddy's Mini-Markets, with 32 locations in the Jackson, Michigan vicinity, is an associate sponsor on the No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the NAPA 200 at Michigan Speedway.
