USAR: ProCup invades South Boston for Aloe Lu Ya 250

18 August 1999

Fayetteville, GA -- The United Speed Alliance Racing Hooters ProCup Series invades the legendary confines of South Boston Speedway for the Aloe Lu Ya 250 on Saturday, August 21.

The stars and cars of the Hooters ProCup Series will cut their teeth on the asphalt that has helped build drivers like Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Darrell Waltrip and Harry Gant into legends and helped shape the careers of Jeff and Ward Burton, Hermie and Elliott Sadler and countless other drivers that have moved on to the NASCAR ranks.

For the first time in two years, the ProCup Series returns to visit the famed Virginia track. The 32-car starting field will sit poised for the green flag start at 7:30 p.m. at the .410-mile semi-banked oval and the chance to take home the winning share of the $77,550 in posted awards.

Before all the ground pounding racing action that will keep you on the edge of your seat, fans can get up close and personal with the stars of the Hooters ProCup Series like former track champion Charlie Ford, Michael Ritch, Johnny Rumley, Jeff Agnew, Darrell Gwyn, Andy Thurman, Jay Fogleman, Karen Schulz and local star David Blankenship, making his first appearance in a Hooters ProCup race, during the pre-race autograph session at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. with local late-model racing following the ProCup race.

The USAR Ladies Association will host a concert featuring the Ron Davis Band at South Boston Speedway on Friday, August 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. The concert is being held in conjunction with the Aloe Lu Ya 250 at the speedway on Saturday night, August 21.

The USAR Ladies Association is a nonprofit organization that helps injured drivers, crew members and their families as well as promoting other charitable events. The organization was formed following an accident during a practice session that left one of the drivers seriously injured earlier this season.

There will be an autograph session and memorabilia auction featuring former South Boston Speedway track champion Charlie Ford, Jay Fogleman, 1998 USAR Hooters ProCup Champion Jeff Agnew, Karen Schulz and many others.

The cost of the concert is $5.00 Children 12 and under are free and all proceeds will go to the USAR Ladies Association.
