* Jeff Gordon won the Frontier @ The Glen, his fifth victory in 1999. It is his 47th career victory in 210 NASCAR Winston Cup races. His most recent victory came in the Sears Point, five races ago. It is his 14th top-10 finish, including 13 top-fives, in 21 races this season. He moved into sole possession of 12th place on the all-time winners list.
* With his victory in the Frontier @ The Glen, Gordon scored his fifth straight road-course victory, extending the all-time NASCAR Winston Cup record for consecutive road-course victories. Gordons road-course victory streak began at Watkins Glen in August 1997.
* This was Gordons third victory in seven races at Watkins Glen.
* Gordon led four times for 55 of the 90 laps raced in the Frontier @ The Glen, the most of all drivers. This was the fourth time that he has led the most laps in a race this season.
* Ford continues to lead the manufacturers points race with 10 victories and 150 points. Chevrolet has seven victories and 131 points while Pontiac now has four victories and 118 points.
* The 29 cars that finished on the lead lap tied the modern era record set at Sears Point in 1995 and 1998. NOTEBOOK ITEMS...
* Dale Jarrett holds a 300-point lead over second-place Mark Martin, again expanding his lead to the biggest point margin of the 1999 season. This is the ninth straight race that Jarrett has added to his point lead.
* Ron Fellows (second) posted his career-best finish in his fourth NASCAR Winston Cup race. Three of his four races have come at Watkins Glen with the fourth being New Hampshire in August 1998. His previous best finish was 35th in this race in 1995.
* Rusty Wallace (third) posted his 11th top-10 finish in 1999. It was his third consecutive top-four finish at Watkins Glen and his ninth top 10 in 14 races here.
* Dale Jarrett (fourth) tied his career-best road course finish set at Sears Point in May 1997. It was his best finish in 13 races at Watkins Glen. It was his 18th straight top-10 finish this season.
* Jerry Nadeau (fifth) scored his career-best NASCAR Winston Cup finish, eclipsing an eighth-place finish set at Talladega April 25, 1999.
* Mark Martin (10th) scored his 17th top-10 finish in 1999 and remained second in the NASCAR Winston Cup point standings. Martin had finished fifth or better in the previous 10 races at Watkins Glen.
* Tony Stewart (sixth) was the highest finishing rookie for the 20th time this season. This was Stewarts 13th top-10 finish in 1999.
* The NASCAR Winston Cup Leader bonus is worth $20,000 for next weeks race at Michigan.
* Bobby Labonte and Rick Mast are the only drivers to compete in all 21 races in 1999 that have not posted a DNF.
* The top-10 finishers in the Frontier @ the Glen included four Fords, four Chevrolets and two Pontiacs.
* Dale Earnhardt made his 600th consecutive NASCAR Winston Cup start in the Frontier @ the Glen. This is the second longest consecutive race streak in NASCAR Winston Cup history, second only to Terry Labonte who has 623 consecutive starts. * Career First: * Three drivers competed in their first career NASCAR Winston Cup race in the Frontier @ the Glen: Ted Christopher (31st) and Dave Murry (39th) and Boris Said (42nd). Said and Christopher both drove in relief in this race last season. Christopher completed a rare triple this weekend competing in all three events at Watkins Glen. He finished second in the NASCAR Busch North Series race, won the NASCAR Featherlite Modified race and finished 31st in the NASCAR Winston Cup event. * Boris Said led laps 21-29 in the Frontier @ the Glen. The last driver to lead a lap in his career-first NASCAR Winston Cup race was Kenny Irwin at Richmond in September 1997. Said became the 38th different driver to lead a lap this season. * Ron Fellows led laps 56-58, the first time in his NASCAR Winston Cup career that he had led race. This is his fourth career NASCAR Winston Cup race. He became the 39th different driver to lead a lap in 1999. * Jerry Nadeau led laps 59-67, the first time in his NASCAR Winston Cup career that he had led a race He became the 40th different driver to lead a lap in 1999.
* Bobby Labonte has led at least one lap in 18 of the 21 races this season. He failed to lead a lap today and also did not lead a lap in the other road-course race at Sears Point. The remaining race that Labonte did not lead a lap was at Bristol in April.
