NASCAR BGN: David Green returns to NASCAR Busch Series action
12 August 1999
STATESVILLE, NC - After an extended break, David Green and the No. 41 Larry Hedrick Motorsports/AFG Racing team return to NASCAR Busch Series action on August 21 at Michigan Speedway for the Pepsi 200 and the Owensboro, Kentucky native couldn't be happier."I'm excited about getting back in a Busch car and seeing my guys from the AFG team," said Green. "I've been watching my brother, Jeff, win races and move up in the point standings and I'm definitely ready to join back in the fun."
Michigan Speedway has been a strong track for Green. In his past two Busch Series starts on the two-mile oval (08/17/96 and 09/15/98), Green has started from the third and second positions respectively.
"Michigan is a fun, wide track with lots of lead changes. It's very competitive," said Green. "I think we can take what some of what we learned from the Winston Cup race there in the spring and apply it to our AFG car." Green, the 1994 Busch Series Champion, has 19 poles and five wins in his 168 series starts. This season, he has captured one pole position (Lowe's Motor Speedway - 5/29/99) and finished a season best fourth at Dover Downs International Speedway on June 5.
"I'm ready to get back in there and have some fun. I want to show all those Chevy people in Detroit just how good the AFG car really is."
Green will round out the 1999 season by competing at Bristol Motor Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Richmond International Raceway, Dover Downs International Speedway, Lowe's Motor Speedway and North Carolina Speedway.
