NASCAR WCUP: Midwest Signs Ricky Craven
10 August 1999
CONCORD NC-- Midwest Transit Racing team owners Hal Hicks and Mike Witters announced today driver Ricky Craven has signed with them to drive the number 50 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the remainder of the 1999 Winston Cup Season."We are extremely excited to have Ricky with us," said Hicks. "This was a critical element in our building process as we get ready for the 2000 season. Ricky came on board with Midwest only one month ago -- during that month the team has come together faster than anyone could have imagined. Ricky has qualified for all three races the team has attempted and finished with a strong 13th at the New Hampshire International Speedway, July 11th."
"This is a wonderful opportunity for me," said Craven. "I really admire the car owners for the approach they have taken to building a first class race team. I have a great deal of confidence in the team members, and I am extremely excited about the opportunity we'll have together."
