USAR returning to Tri-County Motor Speedway

- State Fair Brand Corn Dogs 250 to run on Friday, August 6FAYETTEVILLE, GA --The USAR Hooters ProCup Series returns to the tight confines of Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC, for the State Fair Brand Corn Dogs 250 on Friday, August 6. The 4/10-mile oval yields close-quartered door-banging action as the 32-car field of the stars and cars of the Hooters ProCup Series grind it out for their share of the $77,550 in posted awards.
The second half of the season heats up as Series points leader Bobby Gill charges into Tri-County Motor Speedway with two victories and a 50-point lead over second-place driver Jay Fogleman. Fogleman is still searching for his first win of the 1999 season.
Defending Series champion Jeff Agnew is charging his way back into the points battle by posting top-five finishes in the last three events. During this mid season dash, Agnew has propelled himself from 11th to fifth in the chase for the champions share of the $1.5-million point fund
Mike Laughlin Jr., fourth in the points, found his way to victory lane the last time that the Hooters ProCup Series visited the Hudson, NC, short-track.
So far this season, six different drivers have driven their way to victory lane this season. Gosselin leads the way with four wins followed by Gill and Ritch with two and Mardy Ward, Laughlin and Derrick Kelley have one each.
Also expected for time trials: Karen Schulz, Toby Porter, Chris Diamond, Steven Christian, Mart Nesbitt, Mardy Lindley, Andy Thurman, Johnny Rumley, Trent Owens, Ronnie Davidson, Jabe Jones and Scott Wimmer.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. An autograph session will be at 7 p.m. and the green flag at 8 p.m. with local racing action to follow. Tri-County Motor Speedway is located on Hickory Nut Road, west of Hudson, NC. For ticket information:704-728-7223 or 1-800-852-7223.
