30 July 1999

BLOOMINGTON, IN- During the All Stars Circuit of Champions racing program at Bloomington Speedway tomorrow, the track's staff will be raising money to aid the family of an injured racer. Bloomington officials have arraigned to raffle a pair of tickets to the Hoosier Fall Classic featuring the All Stars, at Lawrenceburg Speedway, on Saturday, September 18; a pair of tickets to the MCI WorldCom USAC midget race at Anderson Speedway this Saturday, July 31; and a pair of tickets to Bloomington's Sheldon Kinser Memorial USAC Stoops Freightliner sprint car event, August 27. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 apiece at the track Friday night.

The proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Dean Billings Family Trust Fund. Billings, from Greenfield, WI, raced often at area tracks including Bloomington, in both midgets and sprint cars. He was injured on July 4th in a Badger midget series race, and remains in a coma. He was recently transferred to a Milwaukee area hospital.

Friday night, grandstand gates at Bloomington Speedway open at 5:30, hot laps and sprint car qualifications start at 6:30, with racing beginning at 7:45. Bloomington's UMP modifieds and Indiana Street Stocks will join the All Stars in competition. General admission is $20. Youths ages 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. Pit admission is $25.
