NASCAR Trucks/SJAPS: Nights of thunder bursts onto the Net; STREAMING VIDEO

27 July 1999

The Auto Channel Presents the First Regular TV ON THE NET Schedule of Live Auto Racing. Key Events Include NASCAR Craftsman Trucks & Slim Jim All Pro Series.

AUTO CENTRAL; July 27, 1999 - Beginning this coming weekend, The Auto Channel will once again set a new benchmark in the evolution of the Internet, from just a text-based resource to an Interactive TV-like broadcast media. In cooperation with Louisville Motor Speedway, TACH will present the nets first regular weekly schedule of live-video motor sports broadcasts. Internet users around the world will be able to watch a full slate of racing action every Friday and Saturday from July 30th until September 18th. Frank Scott, Jr., track vice president and Voice of the Louisville Speedway; will host each of the broadcasts.

This Saturday, July 31st, the featured race at Louisville Speedway is the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro 300. The Slim Jim All Pro Series is NASCARs preeminent east coast regional series.

Sunday, September 5th, a special Labor Day Weekend presentation offers racing fans more thrills and spills with live coverage of the Miller Genuine Draft U.S. Open Demolition Derby.

On Friday, October 8th, The Auto Channel will broadcast the Kroger 225 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race from Louisville Speedway.

Other events throughout the nine-week schedule include NASCAR Late Model and Sportsman Division races, Street Stock, Thunder Trucks, Vintage Cars, and four different divisions of Figure 8 racing. Figure 8 racing, as the name suggests, combines the need-for-speed with the constant specter of crash em-smash em possibilities.

The Auto Channel has been presenting live racing on the Internet since its complete flag-to-flag audio coverage of the 1996 Indianapolis 500 (the Internets first live motor sports broadcast). One month later, in June 1996, TACH broadcast the first live Internet coverage of a European motor sports event with hourly audio reports of the LeMans 24-Hour Endurance Race in France. The Internets first live audio coverage of a NASCAR Winston Cup event was broadcast over The Auto Channel on August 3, 1996 (Brickyard 400), and the first live audio coverage of a motorcycle race took place on TACH August 23-25, 1996 (the AMA California Superbike Challenge at Sears Point). The Auto Channel was back at Sears Point on October 5, 1996, for the Internets first live video broadcast of a motor sports event, NASCARs Kragen 151 Craftsman Truck Series Race.

TACH worked with Louisville Motor Speedway on July 11, 1997, to broadcast live video coverage of the Slim Jim All Pro Series Porter Cable Professional Power Tools 300.

The complete broadcast schedule for the 1999 Louisville Motor Speedway races follows below. All start times are 7:30pm ET, however Internet users should consult the Louisville Speedway page on The Auto Channel before each broadcast. The direct URL is http://www.theautochannel.com/cybercast/lms/1999/index.html?EVENTS. At the conclusion of each event the broadcasts will be archived for continuous on-demand access. To watch the live or archived races Internet users will need the Microsoft Windows Media Player, which can be downloaded free of charge through The Auto Channel. Installation instructions are included with the download instructions. A variety of viewer quality levels will be available, from 28.8kbs to ISDN broadband.

Recently, Yahoo! Internet Life magazine recognized The Auto Channels outstanding motor sports coverage by proclaiming TACH the Internets Best Auto Racing website. The main entrance to The Auto Channel Internetwork can be found at http://www.theautochannel.com.
