NASCAR GDS: Huffman Takes Goody's; Thornton Wins, Takes Bounty

27 July 1999

St. Augustine, Fl. - Robert Huffman led all 100-laps of the NASCAR Goody's DASH Gold Start Dealers presented by NAPA 100 Saturday at St. Augustine Speedway. Huffman was never really challenged as he took charge at the green and never looked back. Chasing Huffman the whole time was Zach Brewer. Third was Jake Hobgood followed by Joey Miller, and Edward Howell.

George Thrift, III had Lady Luck riding with him to take his 11 win. Tuffy Garrigg had passed Thrift for the lead and had a 3 car length lead when his engine let go giving the lead back to Thrift. Never challenged after that Thrift went on to take another victory in the Rick's Mufflerman's Modifieds. After Thrift was Robert Deal, James Pagliuca, Russ Miscally and Justin "Wild Child" Moore.

Ministocks had Steve Thompson in Victory Lane. Jake Hartley took second followed by Mickey Leth, Mike Ponce, and Jay Farris.

Jimmie "Hot Dog" Bunn Had the bounty placed on him Saturday for his multi wins. It was just Bobby Thornton needed to get his first win at St. Augustine. Thornton not only win the race but collected the $100 bounty as well. Bunn had to settle for second as he said he didn't have the car tonight. Third was Grady "Diceman" Lindquist, fourth was the point's leader Rodney Norman and fifth was J. W. Mixon.
