AMA Drag Bikes: AMA Prostar cancels Las Vegas Event

23 July 1999

Las Vegas, Nevada--AMA/Prostar officials announced today that their regional series event which was scheduled to be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, has been cancelled and will not be run as part of their 1999 schedule.

After being advised by speedway management that the new facility would not be done in time, AMA/Prostar and LVMS both committed to run an event together in the 2000 season.

Recognizing that many racers had planned on using the Las Vegas event to pick up their point standings, Prostar will be issuing double points at the Web Cam National Open, held in Salt Lake City on August 21.

Double points will only count if the racer applies the event towards the West Coast Series. The standard point system will be used if the racer is part of the National Event Series.
