IRL: Knapp in Stable Condition, Transferred to Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS- Pep Boys Indy Racing League driver Steve Knapp is in stable condition Monday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after suffering a fracture of his C-7 vertebrae during the Kobalt Mechanics Tools 500 presented by MCI WorldCom on July 17 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Knapp was transported Monday via air ambulance from Atlanta Medical Center to Methodist, where he is under the care of renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Terry Trammell.
