FAYETTEVILLE, GA - The picturesque hills around New River Valley Speedway will erupt with man-made thunder when the stars and cars of the USAR Hooters ProCup Series return to the .416-mile oval in Radford, VA, for more ground-pounding, bumper-to-bumper, in your face racing action on Saturday, July 24 at 7 p.m.When the 32-car starting field prepares to take the green flag, all eyes will be on Jay Fogleman, Jeff Agnew, Michael Ritch and Johnny Rumley, the four all-star veterans who have amassed more than 100 victories at the New River Valley Speedway.
The 8,000 fans that attended last years event were on their feet while Agnew and Fogleman launched into an eight-lap duel. Fogleman shot down to the turn-three apron on lap 189 to pass Agnew and then led the rest of the race for the win.
Whos going to get the lions share of the $77,550 in posted awards for winning the Kroger/Pepsi 250 at New River Valley Speedway? After 10 events in the 20-race USAR Hooters ProCup Series schedule, there have already been six different winners. Everythings up for grabs in the second half of the season!
"Those guys are going to be really tough," said Fogleman. "There are 10 -12 cars in the field that are right there in the hunt to win the race each week.
"Im confident that we can repeat at New River Valley," Fogleman continued. "We just seem to have good luck there. The track just seems to suit us."
Fogleman is second in the $1.5 million Series points standings, just 60 points behind leader Bobby Gill, but he has yet to land his JFCO Motorsports Ford Thunderbird in victory lane.
"New River would be a great place for us to get our first win of the season," said Fogleman. "Weve been very consistent over the last 10 races and been really close to getting the job done. Like Jeff, Johnny and Michael, we have a lot of family, friends and fans that have supported us over the years, so to win at New River would be really special."
Activities at the New River Valley Speedway will get under way early. USAR Hooters Procup qualifying will begin at 4 p.m., an autograph session at 6 p.m. and the green flag will drop at 7 p.m.
