USAC: Davey Hamilton a Winner in Carson City, Western Midgets, TQs Head for Ventura Saturday

Indy Racing League veteran Davey Hamilton led all 30 laps to win Saturday night's Western Sprint Car feature at Silver State Raceway in Carson City, Nev. Hamilton drove the Consani Racing Special to victory over series point leader Bud Kaeding, 1998 USAC MCI WorldCom Western Midget Champ Rick Hendrix, Bobby Graham and Mike McCreary.

Kaeding continues to lead the Western Sprint Car standings going into a July 24 event at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah. Heat race winners at Carson City included Ivan Worden, Danny Burton and Jimmy Sills, while Graham won the semi. Todd Ellison was the fastest of 26 qualifiers.

The MCI WorldCom USAC Western Midget Car and TQ Midget Car Series resume action this weekend at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway in a "doubleheader" on the 1/5-mile dirt oval. A 20-lap TQ and 30-lap Midget Car feature are planned. Marc DeBeaumont of Clayton, Calif. (Midget Car) and Randi Pankratz of Bradley, Calif. (TQ Midget Car) are the respective series point leaders.
