* Jeff Gordon won the NASCAR Winston Cup Bud Pole for the Jiffy Lube 300, lapping the one-mile New Hampshire International Speedway in 29.037 seconds at 131.171 mph. He broke Ken Schraders the track-qualifying record of 29.429 seconds at 129.423 mph, set July 11, 1997.
* This is Gordons 29th career NASCAR Winston Cup Bud Pole and came in his 207th start. His most recent Bud Pole occurred at Sears Point, two races ago.
* This is his sixth Bud Pole and 12th top-10 qualifying effort of 1999. It is his second Bud Pole and his fifth top-10 start in nine NASCAR Winston Cup races at New Hampshire. All of his top-10 starts have been third or better. In three of his remaining four races here, he has qualified 16th or worse. His has three victories at New Hampshire.
* Gordon (six) and Bobby Labonte (four) are the only multiple Bud Pole winners in 1999.
* Rusty Wallace had the second-quickest time with a qualifying lap of 29.126 seconds at 130.770 mph and will join Gordon on the front row for the Jiffy Lube 300. This is his second top-10 qualifying effort in nine NASCAR Winston Cup races at New Hampshire. His previous best qualifying effort here was ninth in this race last season.
* This is the ninth Bud Pole for Chevrolet in 1999. Pontiac has five and Ford has three Bud Poles this season.
* Gordon joins Ricky Craven, Mark Martin and Ken Schrader as the drivers with two Bud Poles at New Hampshire. Note: Qualifying was rained out at California.
* The NASCAR Winston Cup Leader Bonus is worth $10,000 to the winner of the Jiffy Lube 300 should he also be the NASCAR Winston Cup points leader after the race.
* Bobby Labonte (third) posted his 14th top-10 qualifying effort in 1999. It is his fifth top-five qualifying effort in nine races at New Hampshire.
* Ken Schrader (fourth) scored his ninth top-10 qualifying effort in 1999. It is his eighth top-10 qualifying effort, including two Bud Poles, in nine races at New Hampshire. His remaining qualifying effort here was 26th in this race last season.
* Kyle Petty (fifth) posted his fourth top-10 qualifying effort in 1999.
* Tony Stewart (10th) posted his ninth top-10 qualifying effort in 1999.
* Dale Earnhardt Jr., (13th) qualified for his second NASCAR Winston Cup race.
* Mark Martin (30th) failed to qualify in the first round for the first time since this race last season.
* Four of the eight NASCAR Winston Cup races at New Hampshire have been won from a top-10 starting position. Jeff Gordon, in the 1998 CMT 300, is the only driver to win from the pole here .
