Nadeau scored the best finish of his NASCAR Winston Cup career -- eighth -- in the DieHard 500 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway April 25. Nadeau's best qualifying effort this year was June 25 at Sears Point (Sonoma, Calif.) Raceway, where he recorded the third-fastest speed. Nadeau, a Danbury, Conn., native, considers New Hampshire International Speedway his home track on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit. His experience at the Loudon, N.H., track includes three wins in the Skip Barber Pro Series, including one from the pole position in 1995.
1998 Stats and Facts:
Nadeau finished 27th in the Jiffy Lube 300 last year after starting 22nd. Nadeau posted his career-best qualifying position last year at Sears Point Raceway, starting second in the Save Mart/Kragen 350. Nadeau's season-high finish was 15th at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.
Nadeau's Thoughts on New Hampshire International Speedway: "New Hampshire has been good to me. It's not far from my hometown of Danbury, Conn., and I won there three years in a row in the Skip Barber Series. I haven't finished as well as I'd like to in a Winston Cup car, though.
"Lately it seems like small, little problems have come back to bite us in every race. I just want to concentrate on getting ready for the race and finish well no matter what it takes.
"At this point in the season, it's time to turn everything up a notch. I really feel like the Melling Racing team is ready to run in the top 15 every week and we are all going to put out the extra energy it takes to do just that."
