TRACKS: Rain Cancels All Scheduled Events at Jax Raceway

By: Donnie HelmlyJACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA-- The month of June in Florida is well known for its afternoon showers, and Jax Raceways 1/2 mile NASCAR sanctioned track is no exception. Rain completely swamped the racing area as well as the pits on Saturday afternoon, forcing officials to cancel the nights program.
Jax Raceway will take next week off for the Pepsi 400 at near by Daytona International Speedway, as well as for the long holiday weekend, but will open Saturday night July 10th for a full night of racing action. The track will play host to the Midseason Championship race. The driver leading in each one of the respected divisions points standings will receive a special trophy for being the Points leader at the years half way mark.
Jax Raceways has competed 16 events this season. 18 events remain for the track champions which will end on October 30. The NASCAR Winston Racing Series Division Late Models have 11 more races to decide the National and regional Champions which will end September 11th.
Jeff Godbee is the current points leader in the Late Model Division and is currently in the 5th spot on the regional level.
