NASCAR: Sears Point Winston Cup Post-Qualifying Notes, Rusty Wallace
26 June 1999
RUSTY WALLACE -2- Miller Lite Taurus -- (Fourth)"That was a good lap. I'm real happy with it. We ran something like a 1:12.09. I know that doesn't mean a great deal to the race fan, but we deal in seconds instead of miles per hour. Then in qualifying we ran an 11.4 so we picked up a half a second. I really thought the car was going to do that, and it did it." HOW ARE YOU FEELING AFTER LAST WEEK? "A lot of people are asking that question, and I tell you I can't believe how hard I hit that wall and walked away from it. And I don't even have a bruise on me. I got a look at the inside of the car and the safety devices we've been having for a long time, and it held up well for me. The way the seat belts are, all the safety stuff Simpson does for me. When you drive head on into a wall at 200. It was a glancing blow, but still I hit it at 200, and I walked away from it. I got in the plane and flew the plane home. I woke up Monday, and my shoulder was just a little bit sore, but other than that no problems."Editors Note: For hundreds of hot racing photos and racing art, be sure to visit The Racing ImageGalleries and the Visions of Speed Art Gallery.
