ARCA: Hit the Jackpot with Shawna Robinson

HARRISBURG, N.C. -- One lucky fan will pocket $100,000 if driver Shawna Robinson makes history at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series Winn Dixie 300 will be held Oct. 16 at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. If Robinson takes first-place in the No. 1 Bob Evans Restaurants Racing Chevrolet, not only will she be the first woman to win a race at Talladega Superspeedway, but a fan will also walk away $100,000 richer in the "Hit the Jackpot with Shawna" sweepstakes.
Any fan 18 years of age or older who purchases a reserved ticket to the race through the tracks ticket office or website by Sept. 27 is automatically entered in the sweepstakes. A pre-event drawing will give one fan the opportunity to serve as an honorary pit crew member on race day along with the chance to win $100,000. Robinson placed second in her first-ever ARCA race in the 1999 season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Most recently, Robinson placed fourth in the May ARCA race held at Lowes Motor Speedway at Charlotte. After her two top-five performances this year, she was featured on NBCs Nightly News and appeared last night on ESPN2s RPM2Night to promote the upcoming Talladega race.
The Charlotte, N.C., resident has raced in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division for five seasons and is the only woman to win a Busch Series pole position (1994) with a track record of 174.330 mph at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Robinsons other NASCAR accomplishments include:
- 1995 -- Raced a limited schedule in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.
- 1993 -- Completed a full Busch Series season, finishing 23rd in points with earnings of $71,325.
- 1992 -- Runner-up in the Busch Series "Rookie-of-the-Year" standings driving a 14-race schedule.
