NASCAR BGN: Kevin Grubb Ready to Get It On at Watkins Glen

25 June 1999

LETS GET IT ON: In preparation for the Lysol 200 NASCAR Busch Series at Watkins Glen International, Kevin Grubb attended a 2 Day Advanced Road Racing course at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Phoenix, Arizona on May 3-4.

The 21-year-old driver, who has never competed in a road racing event, learned the skills and techniques necessary to be an accomplished road racer using SVT Mustang Cobras on the 15 turn 1.6 mile Firebird Raceway. "Road racing is a blast," said Grubb, a resident of Mechanicsville, Virginia. "Ever since I attended school last month, I've been thinking about racing at Watkins Glen. All my racing experience has come on oval tracks, but I'm not worried. We tested the Timber Wolf car at Watkins Glen a few weeks ago and were faster than a lot of teams who have been here before."

BREWCO MOTORSPORTS OPEN HOUSE: Brewco Motorsports Inc. held an Open House gala at its newly completed 20,000 sq. ft. motorsports complex in Central City, Kentucky on June 18, hosting more than 1500 fans and well-wishers.

The shop houses two of Brewco Motorsports' three NASCAR Busch Series teams. Casey Atwood's No. 27 Castrol GTX Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Kevin Grubb's No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet Monte Carlo are prepared in the Central City complex, while Kevin Lepage's No. 99 Red Man Chevrolet Monte Carlo shop is located in Mooresville, North Carolina.

"We are very pleased that we had this opportunity to give something back to the local fans and community," said Brewco Motorsports President Clarence Brewer Jr. "The number of fans who turned out and the amount of money we raised for the Muhlenberg County Humane Society was beyond our expectations."

The event, which allowed fans to tour the complex and meet Atwood, Grubb, the Castrol GTX team and the Timber Wolf team, raised more than $1,100 for the Muhlenberg County Humane Society.

ASSOCIATE SPONSOR: Kwik Fill/Red Apple Food Market, a convenience store chain with more than 320 locations in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio, is an associate sponsor on the No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the Lysol 200 at Watkins Glen International.
