USAC: Campbell Takes Rain Shortened Spreedrome Race

Daryl Campbell of Carmel, Ind. emerged the winner of Wednesday night's rain-shortened 50-lap USAC Midget Car feature at the Indianapolis Speedrome.The victory boosted him to sixth in the series standings going into this Wednesday night's racing program at the 1/5-mile paved oval.
Rains forced a premature ending to Wednesday's race after 41 laps, with Campbell and his AFCO Shocks & Springs/Jack's Frozen Pizza machine in the lead. Sean Smith, who led 15 laps of the race before yielding to Campbell on lap 18, finished second, followed by Gregg Cory, Brad Kuhn and Norm Young. Smith and Campbell also won the preliminary heat races.
Young leads Michael Lang by 130 points entering this Wednesday's races at the Speedrome.
Lady driver Sondi Eden escaped injury in a flip during the first heat race.
