NHRA: JEG'S Mail Order Racing Friday Pit Notes

Troy Coughlin/Pro Stock:Troy and his #24 JEG'S machine left the starting line during the first qualifying session a little on the aggressive side. The car took off and had too much wheel speed, which causes the car to lose traction. Troy's car shot off to the right at about the 330' foot clock. He moved around a little and drove the car back to the middle of the groove.
The #24 JEG'S Mail Order Olds improved during the second session, but it wasn't enough. Troy currently sits in the number seventeen position on the outside looking in. "The team is currently going through my car to find a problem. The team will do what ever it takes to improve the performance of this car and get it firmly in the field of sixteen."
Jeg Coughlin/Pro Stock:
Jeg Coughlin, Jr. pulled his #2 yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass out of the trailer and marched straight to the top of the pack during the first of four scheduled qualifying sessions. "Coming out of the trailer and making a run like that in our first qualifying session speaks highly of the team that we have assembled, " said Coughlin. Jeg took the top spot with an impressive 7.056 at 196.56 in the heat. There is still plenty of room for improvement for the young and talented driver. "The car launched from the starting line great. When I put the car in third gear the car moved to the right, which got the tires on the right side out of the groove. The track was pushing the car toward the center stripe and I turned the steering wheel pretty far to the left. The car stayed straight, but favored the right side of the groove heavily."
Jeg slipped down to the number four spot after the second session. "We made a better run during the second session, we just didn't pick up as much as we needed to keep the number one spot."
Mike Coughlin/Pro Stock Truck:
Mike threw down an impressive 7.79 during the third qualifying session, which was the fourth quickest. "The truck responded well to the setup, but there's still room to improve," stated Mike. During the final qualifying session Mark Osborne moved into the number two position, which bumped Mike down one spot to land him in the number four position. Mike and his #28 JEG'S Mail Order S-10 will face off against Scott Perin. "This is the best qualifying effort that I have ever had in a Pro Stock Truck. I hope that it's a sign of good things to come."
John Coughlin/Pro Stock Truck:
The conditions for the Pro Stock Truck class were very similar to yesterday. John said, "I think that our team shines in the heat. We really seem to have a good handle on our setup when it get really hot like it's been here so far." After the third qualifying session John remains in the number eight position. John slipped down to the number ten spot and will race John Lingenfelter in a battle of the Mail Order companies. "I am really looking forward to racing tomorrow in front of our home town crowd."
John Coughlin/Super Stock:
Eliminations began today in Super Stock and other sportsman classes. In the first round John and his #33 Pontiac Grand Am lined up next to Bill Little. Bill left premature and the red light came on giving the round win to the JEG'S machine. In the second round John went head-to-head with Earl Roe. Coughlin had the reaction time advantage off of the starting line and takes the win light. The third round of Super Stock is scheduled for 8:30 am tomorrow morning. John said, "The car is performing well and has been predictable, which is extremely important in this class."
