USAC: Davis Scores 1st Speedrome Midget Car Victory

A.J. Davis of Indianapolis, Ind. drove his VW-powered machine to victory in Wednesday night's 50-lap USAC Midget Car race at the Indianapolis (Ind.) Speedrome. The win was his first in the series and boosted him to second in the current standings.

The Speedrome Midget Car Series continues this Wednesday night with another 50-lap feature on tap at the 1/5-mile paved oval.

Davis passed Brad Kuhn on lap 39 and led the final 12 laps to beat Kuhn, 4-time series titlist Michael Lang, Gregg Cory and Mike Schuyler. Davis and Kuhn also won the preliminary heat races.

Norm Young, who finished 12th Wednesday night, continues to lead the series standings over Davis going into this Wednesday night's racing program.
