NASCAR WCUP: David Green Testing for a Win

28 May 1999

Testing For a Win: Owensboro, Kentucky native David Green hasn't had much luck at Lowe's Motor Speedway, but the driver of the No. 41 AFG Industries Chevrolet Monte Carlo thinks the Carquest Auto Parts 300 may be the race that all changes.

"I am excited this time because of the AFG car we're using," said Green. "This is my favorite car to run. For whatever reason it seems to fit me. I've had some solid qualifying runs but haven't had much luck in the race. I think this time will be different given how well this AFG car did in testing."

The Larry Hedrick Motorsports team, led by crew chief Tim Hamer, and Green tested the No. 41 at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May17. Green finished the day with the tenth fastest speed overall turning a lap of 173.243 mph (31.17 seconds).

"This is one of the few testing sessions that I left feeling like I learned something," said the 1994 NASCAR Busch Series Champion. "I learned so much and it added to my confidence. I feel really good about this race."
