NASCAR WCUP: Nadeau to Drive in Carquest Auto Parts 300

27 May 1999

CONCORD, N.C. -- NASCAR Winston Cup driver Jerry Nadeau will serve double duty this weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway at Charlotte.

In addition to his regular driving responsibilities for the No. 9 Melling Racing Ford, Nadeau will also substitute for injured driver Brad Loney in the May 29 NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division race at the track. Nadeau, 28, will drive the No. 90 Coyne Textile Services Chevrolet for GTS Motorsports in the Carquest Auto Parts 300. Loney suffered a concussion during an accident in the First Union 200 at Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway May 23, and was advised by doctors not to enter this weekend's race as a precaution.

"I'm glad to be able to help out GTS Motorsports," said Nadeau. "Hopefully, we'll be able to put together a strong performance Saturday and help Brad recover a little quicker.

"I'm looking forward to getting a little extra time on the track, too," Nadeau continued. "Every little bit helps and I think this will make a difference for me Sunday when I get back behind the wheel of my Melling Racing Ford for the Coca-Cola 600."
