NASCAR WCUP: The Dale & Dale Show

26 May 1999

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn., - At Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in 1993 and in 1996, Dale Jarrett edged Dale Earnhardt to the finish line in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series most prestigious race - the Daytona 500. While the NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains is not Daytona, the recently opened go-kart and family entertainment facility will be the site of another Dale & Dale duel.

On June 1 for the grand opening of the NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains, Jarrett and Earnhardt will be piloting scaled-down versions of their Winston Cup cars around NASCAR SpeedPark's quarter-mile Smoky Mountain Speedway. Instead of their typical 3,400-pound race cars with over 700-horsepower, Jarrett and Earnhardt will drive 400-pound go-karts with 20-horsepower V-twin engines.

As official spokespersons for the NASCAR SpeedPark, Jarrett and Earnhardt bring style and character to the organization. But behind the wheel of similarly prepared go-karts, Jarrett and Earnhardt also bring their hunger to win races.

"We've always raced each other hard," said Jarrett. "As everybody knows, Earnhardt's a tough competitor. Even when we're racing go-karts at the NASCAR SpeedPark, he's a tough guy to beat. I'm sure we'll be banging fenders again when we head up to Sevierville for the grand opening."

In addition to the on-track action, great music and delicious food will be on hand. While listening to the country sounds of Dixie Power Trio, guests can enjoy a full Cajun buffet.

"It's going to be a great party," said Steve Williams, general manager of NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains. "The Dale and Dale show will be in full effect, as will Dixie Power Trio."

NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains is a sister-attraction to NASCAR SpeedPark Myrtle Beach (S.C.), which opened in 1998. Eight more NASCAR SpeedParks are slated for construction over the next five years.
