NASCAR BGN: Glenn Allen Tests Barbasol Ford at LMS

20 May 1999

CONCORD, N.C.-- Glenn Allen and Team Barbasol are determined to make the next two races on the NASCAR Busch Series schedule as successful as possible.

Allen and team tested the Barbasol Ford at Lowes Motor Speedway on Monday and will also test at Hickory Speedway on Thursday in preparation for the first Union 200 at Nazareth Speedway.

"We had a good test at Lowes," said Allen of the May 17 test. "We learned a lot about the race car and what we want it to do for qualifying and the race. We came out here with an agenda to make improvements and are pleased with the results."

Allens best finish at the 1.5-mile speedway in Concord, N.C., is 17th in October of 1997.

Facing the one-mile configuration of Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway this weekend, Allen says testing at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway will help the crew work out some kinks.

"Weve done our best to get this car ready at the shop," Allen said. "But it seems to act differently when its actually on the track. So, we hope we can work out the kinks before we get to Nazareth. I like that track a lot and want a top-10 finish."

Looking at his history at Nazareth Speedway, a top 10 isnt out of the cards for Allen. In 1997, Allen recorded a 5th-place start and finished 16th. Last season Allen had a 10th-place start and a 9th-place finish.

Qualifying for the First Union 200 at Nazareth Speedway is scheduled to begin at 1:30 P.M. ET on Saturday, May 22. The race begins Sunday at noon with live coverage on ESPN2 and MRN radio.
