STOCKS/TRUCKS: Anderson Wins, Pacetti Burns: News from St. Augustine Speedway

The "King of Florida Short Tracks" Dickie Anderson comes to St. Augustine Speedway for the first time, sits on the outside pole and takes the win.

David Clegg set fast time but didn't have anything for Anderson and finally had to retire do to an oil leak. Then Chuck Hires attempted to run down Anderson but had to settle for second. Third was Larry Osteen, fourth was Nolan Wilson and running fifth Chris Tedder.

Chris Pacetti had a hot seat in the Snap-On Sportsman feature. Attempting to pit Pacetti stalled at pit entrance and was slammed by Shaw Hallman rupturing Pacetti's fuel cell and setting it on fire. The blaze was putout quickly and track firefighters and nobody was injured just the cars. This was the second red flag of the Sportsman Feature first came out when Lonnie Lynch and Tommy Rupp crashed in turn two again neither driver was injured. The feature was cut short do to time limits taking the checkers was Todd Ponce. Following Ponce was Kenny Hall, Tiny Cline, David Hitchcock and Jason Garver. Scott Lagasse', Jr. set quickest time.

In the Mufflerman's Modifieds Jimmy Britts was the quickest qualifier and from his pole position took the lead and never looked back to win the 35 lap feature. Chasing Britts was Tuffy Carrigg, Russ MisCally, Chuck Cumby and Jim Winks.

Dash for Cash for Modifieds was won by Robert Deal. This is a five lap race for non winners and $200 winner take all.

Alan Moore set fast time for the Thunder Trucks but had to settle for second as Ricky Cooper set the pace for the 25 lap main event. Brent Hobbs was third followed by Alan Waldron and Robert Gorman, Jr.

Terry Cady takes the Mini Stocks feature and one of the heat races. After Cady was Steve Thompson, John Thigpen, Kevin Burkett, the other heat winner, and Chris Vogel.

Hobby stocks had the two heat winners taking first and second. Seth Caudell won the first heat and the feature, Scooter Hicks won the second heat and took second in the feature. Rounding out the top five was Gray Lundquist, Jody Stratton and Brad Pilinko.
