NWRS: Thrift Crashes, Moore Wins as St. Augustine

St. Augustine, Fl. - George Thrift, III #44, qualifies first again and lead the first half of the 35 lap feature for Mufflerman's Modifieds. Tuffy Carrigg #42 and Russ MisCally #2 try a three wide pass on Thrift when, Carrigg gets loose bumps MisCally sending him into Thrift and Thrift into the wall almost on his roof. Thrift's car was out of the race but Carrigg, MisCally continued. Missing the accident Justin "Wild Child" Moore #8 takes the lead and holds off John Crawford #41 to win. Surviving another accident David Hollingworth's #12 finished third followed by Mike Hanson #18 and Tim Root #19.NASCAR Winston Racing Series Snap-On Sportsman had last season's champion Kenny Hall #3h take the pole and led all 50 laps to win. Hall was not seriously challenged. "BO" Allen #60 was second, third was Tiny Cline #3c, Scott Hezel #31 fourth, and Shaw Hallman #22 fifth.
Dash for Cash was for the non-winners in the Snap-on Sportsman division. The five lap race had Chris Pacetti #12 winning, followed by Les Burl #58, David Hitchcock #05 and Lonnie Lynch #84.
Brent Hobbs, #8 the '98 Thunder Trucks champion, sat on the pole but the race was between new comer Casey Yonick #13 and local driver Andy Waldron #52. Yonick held off Waldron to take the win. Third was Ricky Cooper #21 after Cooper was Hobbs and Alan Moore #1.
Late Model Stocks saw David Clegg #07 start on the pole and led all 50 laps. #22 Larry Osteen #22 survived a crash with Toby Sims #23 to take second. Rounding out the top five was Jason Garver #41, Chris Tedder #13x, and Jody Turner #74.
Jay Farris #33 wins the inside pole but was placed on the tail for being underweight at the scales in the Ministocks. Farris raced his way through the 12 car field to take the lead with five laps to go and took the win. John Hopke #6h was second followed by Terry Cady #KD1, Mike Gibbs #74 and Chris Vogel #4.
Rodney Norman #53 won one of the heat races and won the Hobbystock feature. Scooter Hicks #28 was second, the other heat winner Grady Lindquist #7 third, followed by Chris Manucy #21m and Brad Pilinko #21.
