SCCA: Gentilozzi Revved Up For Mosport
7 May 1999
As the only driver returning to Mosport Park with a Trans-Am win (1996), Paul Gentilozzi (No. 1 HomeLink/Johnson Controls Ford Mustang Cobra) heads to the May 23 Round Two contest ready to face the challenge of Canada's most demanding road course."Mosport Park is a gut check' tracksome guys talk about being race cars drivers, well, if you're on the front row here, you're a real race car driver," said Gentilozzi. "This track requires precision and just plain guts to be good and fast. And to go fast, you've got to hold you're foot downand it's scary. If you brake going into the dip, you're not going to be fast. It takes a real driver to keep your foot planted as you approach the blind corner.
"We've done well here, but we've never had any luck here. We've done well because of a combination of good people and equipment. The driver needs to be willing and able to stand on the gas and the crew needs to present a reliable car that handles well. This is not a country club' race track; it's old school and you best come prepared."
