NASCAR Trucks: Bobby Hamilton/Dana Chelsea Racing Notes

5 May 1999

* Bobby Hamilton will be making his second start of the season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, only this time he will be sporting the Chelsea brand name on the side of the #4 entry in the Memphis 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park. Chelsea, a division of Dana Corporation will move to the primary sponsor position on the #4 Dana Dodge for this race only. This sponsorship marks the first time that Chelsea has gotten involved at this level in motorsports marketing.

"We were really excited when the Dana team became affiliated with Bobby Hamilton's race team," said Dennis Hampton, Manager of Marketing for Dana's Drive Train Service Division. "It's exciting for the Chelsea brand to be on the #4 truck for two reasons. Of course it's great to get the exposure, but more importantly it reinforces the pride of our employees at the Olive Branch, Mississippi plant."

Chelsea will continue to be one of the Dana brands that is present on the Butch Miller #18 Dana Dodge truck, which competes full-time on the NASCAR Truck Series for Bobby Hamilton Racing.

The Memphis 200 will be Hamilton's second start of the year and ninth overall in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

* Chelsea PTO's will also be on the tow trucks that will be used at the Memphis Motorsports Park during the Memphis 200.

* Bobby Hamilton is driving the same truck (catfish) that he raced two weeks ago at Martinsville. Hamilton ran as high as 3rd in the NAPA 250 before an engine problem sidelined the Dana truck with 5 laps to go, dropping him to a 22nd place finish. Hamilton will not be driving the same truck he tested in January at Memphis Motorsports Park.

"I got to make a handful of laps as a race run but I never got to make a qualifying run," said Hamilton. "But with the way my truck ran at Martinsville I don't think we'll have any problem with either truck."

* Bobby Hamilton will be making his second attempt of the year to become the fourth driver to win races in all three of NASCAR's top divisions. The other drivers that have accomplished this feat are Mark Martin, Terry Labonte, and Kenny Schrader.
