IRL: Trust Fund, Counseling Set By Lowe's Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C.,- Lowe's Motor Speedway officials, in conjunction with Speedway Children's Charities, have established a trust fund for those spectators and their families involved in a tragic accident May 1 during the VisionAire 500.The Care Fund, which will be administered by First Union National Bank, will be used to help the injured fans and their families, and the families of the deceased. Ticket holders can donate their ticket refunds to The Care Fund by sending their ticket stubs, along with name, address and a brief note stating their wish to donate their refund. Fans donating their refund are asked to mark ATTN: THE CARE FUND on the envelope.
Lowe's Motor Speedway, in conjunction with the Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, N.C., has set up a special counseling hotline for fans who attended the VisionAire 500. Fans can call (800) 418-2065 to receive counseling.

Seven of the eight injured spectators were released from Charlotte-area hospitals either Saturday night or Sunday. One spectator remains in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center.
