2 May 1999
Lebanon, Tenn.-Bobby Hamilton will be sporting the Chelsea brand name on the side of his #4 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry in the May 8th running of the Memphis 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park. Chelsea brand with its Power Take Off's (PTO's) will move to the primary sponsor position on the #4 Dana Dodge for this race only."We were really excited when the Dana team became affiliated with Bobby Hamilton's race team," said Dennis Hampton, Manager of Marketing for Dana's Drive Train Service Division. "It's exciting for the Chelsea brand to be on the #4 truck for two reasons. Of course it's great to get the exposure, but more importantly it reinforces the pride of our employees at the Olive Branch, Mississippi plant." Hampton went on to say, "I believe this is like the icing on the cake for them, and one more way to say thank you for their dedication and efforts."
Chelsea, which has been in the auxiliary power market since 1945 is the world leader in PTO's and systems technology. Its products can be found on virtually every medium and heavy-duty truck application. There are over six million PTO combinations available for use with recovery vehicles, dump trucks, refuse vehicles, and utility vehicles. In other words if it has a hydraulic system on it, chances are there is a Chelsea system on board.
This sponsorship also marks the first time that Chelsea has gotten involved at this level in motorsports marketing. Chelsea PTO's will also be on the tow trucks that will be used at the Memphis Motorsports Park during the Memphis 200.
"It's great for Dana racing when brands like Chelsea want to get more involved with the racing program," said Armedee Nadeau, Manager of Dana Motorsports.. "We have a good program and when one of our brands wants to utilize our resources it's only going to be a benefit to us all."
Chelsea will continue to be one of the Dana brands that is present on the Butch Miller #18 Dana Dodge truck, which competes full-time on the NASCAR Truck Series for Bobby Hamilton Racing.
The Memphis 200 will be Hamilton's second start of the year and ninth of his career in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
